Walk for Strong Kids
The YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign is all about ensuring every child, regardless of financial circumstances, has access to all the programs and services they need to have a healthy, happy childhood. On May 3, all children in YMCA Early Learning Programs will walk in the YMCA Walk for Strong Kids to raise funds for this important cause. Volunteers will help supervise the parade of strong kids as they walk through the neighbourhood. Superhero costumes encouraged!

Hands-On Help
Dixon Transition Society helps to reduce the impact of domestic violence by providing a safe haven for women and children. Transitional housing programs, counselling and outreach services form a continuum of care to support women and children to live a life free from violence. Volunteers will help build furniture for the transition houses, as well as general organization and maintenance tasks.

Volunteers will help sort donations (towels etc), and other facilities work as needed. MEOW!

Not only does this help families mitigate the stress of mealtime, but it also helps with the cost of coming to Vancouver in search of life-saving medical treatment for their child. Volunteers will prepare and serve a meal to 100 people, and then clean-up for our families.

PADS breeds, raises, trains and supports certified assistance dogs, partnering them with people living with disabilities, and with community care professionals. Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver that provides support to at-risk, homeless, or street-involved youth under 25. Their resources are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They provide safe spaces for youth to connect with supports, detox from substances, and access transitional to short-term housing. 
 
Volunteers will help prepare, cook, serve, and clean up a hot breakfast for the youth at the centre.

Covenant House provides love and hope to Vancouver's street youth aged 16 to 24 who have fled physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse, been forced from their homes, or aged out of foster care. They have a free clothing room for youth who arrive at our door with only the clothes on their backs, or need a professional outfit for a job interview. Volunteers will help out by sorting in-kind donations such as food, clothing, and household items.
