City Farmer was established in 1978 at the Vancouver Community Conservation Centre (VCCC) as a six-month project initiated by Canada’s Federal Ministry of Mines, Energy and Resources. The project aimed to teach people about energy conservation. Over the years, City Farmer has evolved into a leading organization in urban agriculture, educating people on everything from the art of composting to Waterwise tips.
